One of the unique challenges of building Lavender Lane Farm™ is that we don't yet live on the property. While our dream is rooted in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania, we're still making the transition to calling the farm home.
That means every trip to the farm is carefully planned, and every visit is focused on making progress. But what happens between those visits?
To help us stay connected, we've installed a farm camera overlooking our lavender fields. It allows us to check on the plants, monitor weather conditions, and watch the fields change from day to day—even when we're miles away.
The camera has already become an invaluable part of our journey. After heavy rains, we can check how the planting mounds are draining. During periods of hot weather, we can monitor the condition of the plants and see how they're responding. We can even enjoy something as simple as watching the sunrise over the fields or seeing the first signs of new growth.
Of course, a camera can never replace walking the rows, checking the soil, or spending time with each plant. But it gives us peace of mind and helps us stay connected to the farm every day while we continue working toward the day we'll live here full-time.
One day, Lavender Lane Farm™ will be a place where visitors can stroll through blooming lavender fields and experience the beauty of the countryside. Until then, this little camera gives us a window into the dream we're building—one season, one day, and one glance at a time.
