Planting day was an exciting milestone, but we quickly discovered it was only the beginning.
Since the first lavender plants went into the ground, our focus has shifted from building planting rows to caring for a growing field. Every visit to the farm brings another opportunity to observe, learn, and make sure each plant has the best possible chance to thrive.
Throughout the season, we've closely monitored soil moisture, rainfall, drainage, and the settling of our raised planting mounds. Lavender prefers well-drained soil, so every heavy rain has given us valuable insight into how the mounds perform and whether any adjustments are needed.
We've also kept a close eye on soil pH and overall plant health. Watching for new growth, checking foliage color, and inspecting each plant has become part of our regular routine. Along the way, we've learned that successful farming isn't just about planting—it's about paying attention to the countless small details that help plants flourish over time.
Like any new project, there have been challenges. Some plants have grown faster than others, a few required extra attention, and every weather event has taught us something new. Each experience has made us better stewards of the land and strengthened our confidence in the future of Lavender Lane Farm™.
Perhaps the most rewarding part has been seeing the changes that happen little by little. New shoots appear, plants become fuller, and each passing week brings visible signs of progress. Those small victories remind us that growth isn't measured in days but in seasons.
